Following my forced withdrawal from filming matches at Reachfields, I feel the Supporters, Players and Manager are owed an explanation as to how this transpired.
Leading up to the Horndean game, I had been encountering some problems with the siting of opposition team high capture devices. These amounted to anything from a long conversation with the opposition operative as to how the device should be sited to downright abuse when I was seen as a spoiler in their eyes as someone that was being picky in asking for the device not to be extended beyond the height of the stand roof in order for it to not be in my camera's line of vision. There were various levels of compliance where some begrudgingly did as I asked but others waited for me to start filming and then moved the device.
It was the Chairman's decision to insist that these devices were sited by my camera position and I expected that when I reported a problem with this to him, he would act to make a decision that would facilitate my continued, uninterrupted, filming. However, to my surprise, he continued to insist upon no change being made as to where the devices were to be sited, suggesting that we could work through this. That would not have been possible as the problems I have mentioned would still have had the ability to occur.
Given this intransigence, I felt I had no choice but to cease my activities. The solution was a very simple one which the Chairman chose not to make. To me, it is incomprehensible that our club could make a decision that was detrimental to ourselves and would favour the opposition over us.
I doubt very much that this will happen, but I wish to make it clear that I would return tomorrow if I was to be given an assurance that these devices would no longer be sited near to my filming position.
